The setting, this planet, Arrakis… Denis Villeneuve does a great job turning this planet into its own character. There’s so much mystery and it pushes you to want more. It has the richest mineral spice to the most danger apex predators the sandworms. We want to see moreeee. There’s mention of trap spiders and all sorts so more Fremen more Arakis please!
Lucas arts needs to wake up! The trajectory of this franchise feels like an attack on Star Wars… yes I said it! fight me… in my comments! There are so many pieces here. You have the political drama of the different houses all pushing to have power. You have an epic action masterpiece with incredible combat scenes from the stealth to the blockbuster Lord of the Rings esque battles. It’s the fact these are fighting with swords mainly.. its so medieval but in space but in the desert yet with spaceships… my heads goneeeeee. Then underneath this fantastical universe we have this undertone of mystical spiritual prophecies. I couldn’t tell what was real or what was just imagination… we don’t care we loved it! The lore runs deep, we are 2 movies in and we have only had an insight into about 4 out of 157! We are not only here for a good time, we are here for a long time.
Watching Paul’s journey from runaway kid to full blown warrior leader is a treat. Everything is over dramatised and I mean that in the most positive way. The build up to the worm riding was so tense. Now lets talk Butler! Batista took a back seat so bro could rise and I respect it. Bro came bald, no eyebrows and pale white skin… this guys performance was captivating. He made for the perfect nemesis to Timos Paul. With so many twists and turns within the story it leaves this world open to big expansions. It’s a must watch and if you can… Cineworld, SuperScreen… IMAX do ittttttttttt!!
