Did I enjoy the Fall Guy… as per the stuntman lingo! (thumbs up). One of the major things was the chemistry between Ryan and Emily. Very believable and felt so natural. Man need to keep an eye on Ryan… why does this guy have chemistry next to any actress? The Fall guy pays homage to all stuntmen and yes, we do appreciate you but this for me is also a spoof. We are here to have fun. Yes, they could have just looked for witnesses instead of all this drama over a video, yes, they could have just gone to the police in the beginning, no one recovers from a back injury that quickly and makes even more bigger jumps without injury… please pack your bags and move long. If you came here for plot and a deep enriching story then you are in the wrong place. As per Ryan’s quotes we are here in attempt to win an Oscar the stuntmen… but FYI that Oscar would go to Tom Cruise anyway!
Its taking the piss out of movie productions as a whole. There’s a scene where they like break the 4th wall by talking about making their movie with split screen then as the video you’re watching actually goes into split screen. There are some good laughs here like when he gets high and keeps seeing a unicorn. (Are you high) ask yourself. Runtime was too long for me but there is enough content to somewhat keep you engaged. Special shout out to Jean Claude the dog who made for some good scenes. There’s a lot of action and the characters do well with some good stunt scenes. the third act as expected does get messy and falls apart with some shoe horned plot twists that just feel forced. The villains motives around the whole driving force was just shit and it does fall in line with the spoof aesthetic. But again, we are not here for the story… Jason Momoa appearance was random and I enjoyed it so much.
Overall, it was entertaining, exciting and just a breath of fresh air. At its core its rom com. It does well to add all these different elements from action, drama and all and still keeps its essence of praise to stuntmen. It’s a recommended watch, I promise you will have fun and yes, it is a bus stopppppppp!!!
