Anelka Misunderstood

The air has been cleared for me on this character. I didn’t know what to make of him for a very long time, I have more clarity. Just a passionate, emotional person who never had the platform to be expressive through childhood so it stuck to him through his life. Sound familiar black families?? 😔

So much feeling bottled up, football was his therapy… but when ur therapist is broken within themselves and toxic it ruins your journey. I give you Nicholas Anelka @nicoanelka39 As football fans, this documentary helps explain how far your anger filled, negative lash outs online goes. A lot of fans think “I’m a no one so let me just say what I want, he ain’t ever gona see this” but the truth is that feeling creates a chain and grows. Whether it gets to the player themselves or not, it eventually reaches someone who does have a voice aka the media/journalists who then in turn just takes the narrative and twists it to make sales. It’s a nasty system.

Nicholas’ demeanour speaks volumes to me now. I see the same energy in @martial_9 . Where it’s all most likely personal life stuff but find it hard to hide their feelings when at work (which in truth they shouldn’t have to). I pray for peace for all our entertainers 🖤

This is a good watch. It explores the politics of the game behind the scenes and his story in depth. You also get to the see how a legend encompasses their personal life whilst trying to navigate their offspring with the positive values of football regardless of stardom.

Recommended watch. @netflix 👏🏾👏🏾
