Candy Cane Lane

  • WILL THIS BE YOUR FAMILY DAY MOVIE?

Candy Cane Lane has that feel good Christmas feeling despite the movie having terrible pacing. From when the kicks off it then just feels like its in a hurry to end. Its 2 hours of rushing to the finale. There was a lot here to potentially explore and flesh out. It has the expected ingredients for a Christmas film… kids that feel unheard, a villain with a redemption arc, some form of optimistic competition, a giant cameo for the big man himself, a meedy plot twist and a father figure that finds compassion again. The theme here is the 12 days of Christmas and we witness that song come to life which was a plus. It doesn’t take itself seriously at all so I don’t see why I should. You have live magical characters in the open and no one bats an eye lid, like little toys talking or a Santa pulling up in a flying Ferrari. With strong messages around greed, money, family and rebirth.

Will it make to our Christmas all time list probably not but it’s a nice fun filled attempt at a family season movie which we have been lacking for a while. I say praise them on… we wont more outlandish attempts. The cheesier the better. Who knows there might be another timeless classic like Grinch or Home Alone… we will never know unless we try.

Has Eddie still got it? Will this be your Xmas Day family movie? Does this need a sequel? React and comment below…
