They tried to assassinate Borderlands you man! A beloved video game franchise! Sometimes its ok to say hey its not for me i will work on something else. It has some good but too much bad! The movie boasts a talented cast and crew, yet somehow, everyone seems strangely out of sync. Almost like they were forced to be there. There are a few decent laughs and some flashy action scenes (i liked those). Jack Black’s performance as the lovable robot Claptrap stands out. For good and bad reasons. Whether he’s delivering snappy one-liners or getting into trouble with his well-meaning antics, Claptrap provides both comic relief and an annoying presence that was driving me insane. A fine balance some might call it. While it excels in visual style and humor, the plot feels somewhat shallow and predictable, often favoring action over narrative depth.
Overall this was not it. Whether you’re a longtime fan of the franchise or completely new to it, this 2024 film adaptation of Borderlands is bound to leave you disappointed, regardless of your familiarity with the series. Having not played all of the games myself, I can’t personally judge how faithful the film is to the original material. However, based on the online backlash I’ve seen leading up to its release, the outlook isn’t promising. In my opinion, that alone should be enough to steer you in a different direction. I cant say it was a good attempt because it wasn’t. Borderlands becomes yet another addition to the long list of failed video game film adaptations. Join me in prayer as we hope its the last.
Where did they go wrong? How did they go wrong? People are calling it the Kevin Hart curse… is this a thing? Borderlands isnt that complicated… why is it so hard to get a video game adaptation right?
