Rebel Ridge showcases all this drama and for what? 36k? The amount of madness that kicks off here you would think we are talking 36m! However, recognise I’d turn your town over for my £20! Dont play with me! The drama kicks off about 9 seconds in so we are locked in straight away. Saulnier’s films often tackle challenging subjects with a raw and authentic style, and Rebel Ridge was no different. His vision for blending action with a critical examination of social issues hinted at a film that could resonate on multiple levels with audiences.
These were some lowdown dirty cops! The film takes the simple story of Terry trying to bail out his cousin and takes us on a deep dive of how far government corruption can run. It shows characters pushing their own agendas channeling their greed and selfish ways. The systemic injustice runs deep. My problem with Rebel Ridge… too much mystery. We are informed of how dangerous Terry is but we don’t get to see him fully unleash these technical abilities as much. We need a sequel… Thank you. I think I would have taken a series of this to be fair.
Overall, the setting and stunts of Rebel Ridge were crucial in crafting a film that not only entertained but also captured the gritty, high-stakes essence of its story. There’s a few plot twists that keep you on your toes and the close combat action was brilliant. Now I dont feel like Boyega who was originally casted would have been a better Terry… Aaron did a fantastic job! Netflix tends to do this… bless us with some brilliance, like this, Extraction then next 10 productions are meeeeeediiiiiiii! However we will stay locked! This is a must watch so grab your friends password… Sike! Just tune into this one!
Rebel Ridge as a series rather than movie? Yay or nay? Is Aaron Pierre ready for the big stage? Have we found our new Blade? Do we need a sequel? Maybe the black Jack Reacher no?
