Beetlejuice x2 is a fun and entertaining film which worked better than most remake sequels from the past. Hollywood doesn’t often release sequels that are original or worth your time, but Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is the rare exception. Having most of the original cast back, along with some exciting new additions, really enhances the film. It’s great to see Tim Burton return as director; he successfully captures the essence of the original while updating the style just enough to avoid it feeling like a tired rehash. What Beetlejuice does well is that it crafts the story in such a way where it can be watched as a standalone. You don’t really need to have watched the original. Now its not without fault, there was too many plots jammed in. One particular plot around Astrid and her new found boyfriend. Was built up in a big way and it ended so quickly and so pointless. I was quite disappointed. Had potential to be like the main arc to be honest.
All in all I liked Beetlejuice. The film strikes the perfect balance of paying homage to the original while introducing new characters, a fresh storyline, and a new perspective on the mischievous yet lovable demon we all adore: Beetlejuice. Although Michael was limited with his screen time he was the shining light of it all. He is someone I have the utmost faith in if he decided to revive any of his classic films. He is undoubtedly one of the most talented and underrated actors of his generation. His portrayal of Beetlejuice brings the magic back to the big screen. This is a definitely a recommended watch.
Is this the best sequel to come out of this remake era? Can Beetlejuice make a 3rd comeback? Oi GenZ! U lot play too much, I know you lot are going to start a trend by saying Beetlejuice name and that… please, llow it! we don’t play with the afterlife… tenk youuu
