The shining star here that held it all together for me and deserves lots of accolades next to Vince Vaughn is the narrator Tom Nowicki. His voice work just kept it all engaging, asking the right questions at the right time making the viewer rethink any theories and drawing us back on track into whatever story plot was on screen. It was brilliant. Bad Monkey takes the format of 3 storylines running simultaneously and all coming together for a big finale. We have Lance’s redemption story, Neville’s battle for his home, The Dragon Queen trying to find her way and of course the journey of Chris’ death. I must say as cliche as it all is the entertainment, performances and strong script make it all worth while.
Bad Monkey does well to create that “who did it” mystery drama and it delivers in keeping you guessing. Yes you book readers probably knew who it was from the beginning as its based on the book of the same name by Carl Hiassen… we get it!! You are fortune tellers… now leave your hate mail in my comments I’m ready to fight all of you! The chemistry amongst the cast was electrifying. Rosa and Lance worked well, Lance and Bonnie worked well, Chris and Lance worked well… maybe its all Vince. Characters like Eve tried their best to work their way into the top ten 10 villain list and they weren’t far from. I wanted to mmmm leme chill.
Overall Bad Monkey is wicked show. Great acting, very good plot twists that werent Blazay and a nice full circle moment in the end. I’d like to see another season. The ending was half baked feeling quite anti climatic but there was enough there for me to want to see these characters again. Apple have done it again and at this rate they actually cant miss… or can they?
Did you guess the killer from the beginning? Did Bad Monkey have you locked in? Is this Vince’s best role? Who was worse Eve or Joffrey? Do you believe in the dragon queen?
