Released in 1997 and still holds up till this day! An absolute legend of a movie, a movie way before it’s time. The concept was so absurd and confusing when you think about it now but made perfect sense in that era when imagination was allowed to flow freely. Minimal CGI, loads of animatronics, plenty and plenty of costumes.
To confirm yes it’s a movie about kung fu fighting kangaroos that wield the power of natures elements. As to how no one thought of a crossover with the ninja turtles baffles me.
Highlight of the movie, the villain. Amazing performance by Angus Macfayden. Komodo was the Thanos level of that time. A top tier display of evil, humour, insanely camp, epic quotes and chaos. His maniacal laugh was the icing on the cake 👏🏾 His display is what Loki would have been if Marvels Thor was released in that era. Released in the era of cheesy movies ie dark Crystal, labyrinth etc this movie worked well. The production, narrative well put together. The plots and message were simplified so suffered a bit but you will manage through with the well choreographed action and excellent humour.
Were you born when this was released? Are you a kung fu fan? Are you from Australia, do you like kangaroos? A recommended watch for all including children. Did someone say remake??
