I struggled with this movie. It was very lacklustre and very uninteresting. Some may not understand when I say “it was too Harry Potter ish”, I’ll explain myself. We all loved Harry Potter, high drama, fantasy and action with your Star Wars like battles with wands. For me, the appeal of Fantastic Beasts is… that’s right you guessed it… the Fantastic Beasts! They took a heavy back seat here and all we got was a load of wizard battles and a disconnected love story. It’s all about what weird, distinct, creative creature are we going to see next, unfortunately there was less than minimal, just the usual fan faves.
Unfortunately the chemistry between Mads and Jude just wasn’t there. After experiencing @johnnydepp version it was always going to be tough to follow up, Johnny just adds so much Deppth to the characters he plays (see what I did there 👀). Even Eddie took a very huge back up dancer role here and his super awkwardness is one of the reasons we tune in. Highlight of the movie was @msjwilly , excellent performance with the stylised accent.
All in all I’d recommend this only to keep up with continuity nothing more. It was boring, unoriginal and definitely not cinema worthy.
