This was a neat buffy the vampire display. It suffered from horrible pacing which seems to be an issue with non marvel produced movies. It tries to throw you straight into the action but rather creates confusion in its opening 10 minutes. Some franchises just need that R rated touch to really elevate, they missed it here.
I worry for Sonys productions of anti heroes reason being is the casting and story arcs they create make them too likeable to then eventually turn them into villains. However I’m sure they have thought it through and have a plan so let’s wait and see. The effects and action in this are top notch. The makeup, the transformations and the display of vampiric powers etc are all top tier. Tyrese presence felt very pointless and unneeded. He’s an ok actor generally but seems to pop up in these sci fi movies out of nowhere as these side characters, is just for a pay check or what? The soundtrack here is very reminiscent of Nolan’s Batman films. Just an observation.
Morbius is a good introduction to the character, although leaves a lot of wtf questions, it’s decent, not cinema worthy but a good watch. I personally liked it a lot. However I warn you to lower your standards… massively.
Would you have preferred a horror display? Did that end credits scene excite you? Was this Jareds best superhero performance?
