Movie won an Oscar… and for good reason.

It’s a thriller, but not really…
One thing that it definitely is, is it’s dark. Like real dark. Lets call it a dark comedy. It kind of stays with you n makes you think. The movie doesn’t try to be clever at all just throws it’s full blown message from the beginning then distributes the layers through out the ensemble. The film is unique and although starts a bit slow, quickly goes into overdrive. Marketing suggests it’s a revenge focused themed thriller but I don’t feel like it was. It felt to me like, when you see the end, this is the route she always had planned, so more of a message to the wider audience. A movie that carries a lot of emotional baggage and the performance from Carey is just amazing. She’s deeply troubled but gives off a nonchulant attitude which in effect she nails with the perfect balance. Can’t say it was predictable at all as for a long while I misread a lot of scenes until the end.
Its all a real rollercoaster in which the ending for most will either make or break the whole film. For me, I got the overall message but just feel it could have gone a different route. It was very… ermmm… “okay”. I liked that a lot stars made appearances and apparently it was due to the locality of the filming set which is cool to hear. Friends bringing on friends etc etc etc but i diverse!
Its a good watch! Excellent narrative, cast, setting and dialogue. A must watch!
