A movie about sword fighting dykes also set in a world where everyone seems to be a single parent 😅 I’m kidding‼️
Enjoyable movie for all the family with a very strong message of trust which is force fed to you from the start. All through watching I did feel it was missing a few things. I feel like it missed big chances of character development for very interesting characters. Con Baby being one of my favourites would have liked to know a lot more, maybe even a spin off show. Boun was another good character. Even the Druun i feel could have used more development. It felt super easy collecting all the pieces she needed, that didnt sit well with me. The dragons felt different and unique. Not a single part felt like a certain story about vikings living with dragons… a very eccentric piece of art. Its a well put together original movie which is predictable alot of the way but still engaging. The animation is flawless. Bright, joyous and exuberant. The movie focuses on the loss of family and centers around the coming together of unlikely characters. It’s heavily action focused surprisingly. The hand to hand combat and sword fighting was a good fit and quite reminiscent of a young Asian girl who joined the army posing as a boy (if you know you know). One thing that stood out for me was… lets see if you can guess it… drum roll… NO SING ALONGS! Nothing against them but something like this which is action orientated would have felt weird if they all started bursting into song. It really didnt need it. Disney, we need more of this.
Movie is very very entertaining and some excellent voice performances by the cast. Doubt it needs a sequel but I wouldnt say no. With a market saturated with sequels and remakes gotta big up Disney on this original masterpiece.
Very recommended and a must watch!
