Movie struggled with direction. It couldn’t decide whether it was going to stick to the more grounded source material or go full fantasy… that’s the reason it fell short for me. The change in actual origin I can just about forgive but that also felt overstretched as to say they came up with your basic story stretched it into 2 unnecessary hours. Casting was average and most were under used I.e. Iko Uwais. Stormshadow was a good casting. The new generation of Joe’s can somewhat work but time will tell. I was happy with Tatum and Wayans.
The realm of fantasy was too much. Given the title of the film I feel like the director couldn’t resist and shoe horned the fantastical giant snakes and then the jewel that allowed you to do fire balls. All a bit too much.
Movie wasn’t good and choreography was weak. With a half hearted villain and weak brotherhood storyline, I’d take another reboot attempt.
