We have the closing of Natasha here and it wasn’t done justice I can confirm. She is a character full of mystery with a notorious past and this was an opportunity to bring some of that to light but it was a swing and a miss as I am still confused on her past. Another big miss were the villains! Taskmaster is such a complex character shrouded in more mystery than Romanoff herself but was giving a lame plot point. It is absolutely enraging to see the character reduced to being some mindless machine!! Trust me when I say the main villain of this story’s motive is… I kid you not… word for word “control all the girls in the world”!!! What in the “Beyonce, who runs the world? Girls!!!” is going on here LOL.
Moving on kmt, movie takes a deep dive into her childhood and upbringing etc stuff we already knew really so there was no shock factor. One thing I was impressed with were the accents. Surprisingly very good in my opinion that I had to check nationalities. Ray Winstone however slipped up a few times and the geezer shown through LOL. The message behind the whole movie I believe is to highlight how some men love to control women etc. Harbour was excellent and provided the comedic value to great affect. i do feel he was underused and could have had more to him as someone who is an alternate Captain America. He was too easily dispatched by Taskmaster. Pugh was a amazing. Her accent, choreography and comedy. There’s a recurring theme were she continiously mocks Romanoff’s super hero landing which is great to see. Action scenes were brilliant. All in all the movie is quite hollow story wise. The Black Widow mantle is being passed to the perfect replacement but just dont feel Natasha got the send off she deserves.
Movie is not cinema worthy and in full honesty can be skipped over as it adds no value to the MCU. In fact it took away an epic character who could have been utilised way more effectively (Taskmaster). I hope HE is brought in somehow in the future…
