Twisters is a summer blockbuster in every sense of the words. I’m a fan of disaster movies and tornodoes are a unique kind of disaster but also quite straight forward, however they got creativity and made a fiery tornado which was terrifying. Twisters builds on the most successful elements of the original movie and enhances them. I feel like they did miss a trope to include Helen Hunt as a relative or some sort of connection but there was nothing. Just Dorothy the machine which can be easily missed.
The story clearly establishes the objective from the start and maintains a relentless pace throughout. At times, the story can be quite predictable, with certain plot points easily anticipated by the audience. Additionally, the motivations of some characters tend to fluctuate, leading to inconsistencies that may detract from their development. Moreover, some of the scientific concepts presented in the movie seem to rely more on cinematic spectacle than on actual scientific accuracy, falling into the realm of what could be termed “movie magic.” But hey what do I know… I will not be heading into a tornado anytime soon. The chemistry between Tyler and Kate does feel authentic, fresh and fun. They allude at the interest in each other and its a back and forth all through the film leaving us the audience wondering is this going to happen?
Overall I enjoyed the film! Theres only so much you can do with tornadoes and I feel they maxed out here. Is there room for a franchise I dont think so unless… you add them to the monsterverse orrrrrr… you make a twister out of nitrous and call on… family! Great special effects, fun witty quips and the cheesiest and best tag lines… If you can feel it… chase it!
Can this franchise take another sequel? Is Glen Powell the new hot stuff? What did you think of your new superman?
