Kill throws its name in the “action movie of the year” hat. Dont be shocked! I’d double down and say it again! Right lets it get it out of the way… story and plot is thin here… with a few wow moments if im honest but thats not why we tune into Trepidactions… (what u mean) thats what we are calling these films, the john wicks, the raid, monkey man… films that are hyper action focused! im pushing it and it will catch on. Kill’s story is typical, boy loves girl, girl loves boy, fight to be together but in this case they literally have obstacles/people between them and im not talking about an evil mother in law, we talking worst. A crew of bandits that check this as well… are all family. Now imagine going on a move with your cousins but Uncle Jebediah is there as well ready to put in this work… muuuuaaadddd. Im talking from the youngest son to the elderly and for me personally i was more interested in that story… like how did we get here? How did this become the family business? I have questions!!!
The film kicks off then you around 45min in before the title screen comes up… now that was a nice touch and you will find out why! Barely any guns so it was hand to hand and knives so the choreography had to be levels and it was. Splendid action scenes. Its the close quarters combat, it just worked, i really liked it. Another thing i liked was how thin the plot armour was on our hero, he takes one hell of a beating!
In summary its an excellent film and will be talked about. A simple storyline with shocking moments in between, done. The acting, amazing. Lakshya has come to make a statement and that is what he did but Juyal also needs to be acknowledged because he really stole the show for me. The music is well used constantly reminding us this is a Bollywood product, we did not forget and we give all credit. We had villains who had little motivation but a lot of humanity, its like you kind of get it and want to explore them. Last but not least the action. messy, finesse and brilliantly executed. Its a love story, brotherhood and family… story suffered but made up for it in every other department. Kill will be in cinemas on 5 July and its definitely one for the big screen! Go watch it!
Is this franchise material? Can sequels come out of this? Is bollywood making a statement? Ready to step to Hollywood?
