The suicide squad

James Gunn knocked it out of the park and has given DC a lifeline. The balance of action, gore and comedy is excellent. More than enough screen time for each character to make their stamp and for some their quick exits. It had a very Game of thrones feel to it as in it was not wise to get attached to any characters as they could be written off at anytime. It’s very heavy on comedy and violence. 2 opposites that when you look at the history of Hollywood they actually go hand in hand.

What James has done here is taken a few Z list characters and actually given them some depth, some interest and made them likeable. Even though some way short lived you can see he went for more of a freedom on this project. As opposed to settling for a big A lister like Batman in which you cannot change much and are very limited in regards to creativity.

2 standouts for me in this movie…1. Although it is a form of reboot they still acknowledge the old movie, which then meant we didn’t need an origin story so we got straight into the deep end and action. 2. Viola Davis aka Amanda Waller, absolutely superb. A perfect casting, a perfect evil prick. In essence the real villain but you gotta love her.

A must watch! Cinema worthy!
