Let’s dive straight in with the cons. The pacing suffered in the beginning. Movie starts off exactly where the last ended and felt like they had trouble wrapping up the Mysterio arc cos the transition into this movie felt bizarre but we got through it. Due to runtime reasons obviously we didn’t get the amount of character development we wanted due to so many major characters being on screen. From there it was uphill. This is an exciting, satisfying and most of emotional hell of a ride. I dare say it, for a solo film, it sits in the ranks of the Avengeresque level movies. You are not doing this movie justice if you’re not seeing it in the cinema. If RDJ is gona be hard to replace then I can confirm so is Benedict. He is Strange and has also cemented his place as a big boi in this universe. It was great to see MJ and Ned have more fleshed roles and lines this time around. The mix of fresh and nostalgia moments with the perfect balance of screen time for each character clearly competing to seize their scenes with each other made this film not only epic in action scenes but also performance wise. We finally get to witness Peter experience true trauma to further flesh out his character and these were truly deep emotional moments with the famous tagline we love so much “with great power, comes…”
Molina, Defoe, Foxx, Cox etc amazing displays. A well thought out plot mechanic to introduce them back into the fold and it all made fictitious sense. Then the worse kept secret which still had us all cheering and gasping in the cinema, Tobey and Andrew! The comical, emotional, exertion synchronisation of 3 different Peter Parkers on screen owning their moments will be hard to beat and unmatched. Disney/Marvel have set a bar I feel they will struggle to meet.
This is the best Spider-Man movie, scratch that… this is the ULTIMATE Spider-Man movie!! Must watch!!
