The Matrix Resurrections

A joyride filled with nostalgia and callbacks. Story was a bit flat footed and they went full blown love story this time round. The matrix trilogy for me was complete, it had no other direction to go to but they tried here and it was forced. Couldn’t help but feel someone in the office said “hey Xmas is coming, where can we squeeze some money out of this folk?” Just a cash driven apparatus. The plot was stretched to its maximum. In no way shape or form should it have taken 2 hours to re unite these characters. One being with god like powers.

A telling sign that this movie was a struggle to make was the constant fill in clips of the old movies. There were way too many to be a tool of story telling. There was just a lack of creativity. If I’m honest it wasn’t all bad. The action was decent. Nothing original but always fun to view. The introduction of the new cast gave it a fresh take but not enough to sustain it all. The suffering I believe mainly lies with the lack of connection. Anyone new starting with this film will struggle to understand what’s going on as the clips will make no sense to them. Hugo and Lawrence declined to come back and with good reason. This new villain made no sense n had no motive to do what they were doing. It was all a mess.

Movie watchers will understand me when I say despite all I’ve stated this movie wasn’t boring. It was so poorly put together that it was fun to watch.

What did you think of Neos return? Would you like the story to continue? Are you happy with “The One” or should I say “The Two”? Comment below…
