Love and Monsters

Dylan’s energy on screen is unmatched. He brings a strong authenticity to his roles in which you can even feel how scared he is even when he’s doing something as simple as running. He’s been on a hiatus so it’s good to see him back.

This is a cute love story with some surprising deep emotional parts. I enjoyed it (big fan of monster movies)! Few jumpy moments but not too bad, kids can watch it. Another strong display to prove why dogs are the best and most loyal specimens on the planet. Side characters were not very engaging and memorable and the villains were even worse. It had a decent story and it felt like they run out of ideas and just filled it with a random character arc in which no one cared about. Not your typical love story ending. The little girl and Mav1s were the highlight of the movie for me, very funny and emotional.

It’s a neat movie that can be enjoyed with all the family on a Sunday. It has adventure, it has love, it has companionship. A throwback to enjoyable family adventure films. The fact the hero is a skinny nobody and not the Rock or Bruce Willis makes it refreshing. I feel there’s potential for a sequel perhaps even a whole universe. It feels very Zombieland so a sequel can definitely run. Recommended watch.

Quote of the movie: good instincts are earned by making mistakes.
