I did feel the absence of Adam Sandler as the “bla bla bla” just didn’t feel the same. Nonetheless a fun and familiar tale and felt mightily like the closing of a franchise and I’m not mad at it as it ended well. There’s only so many times you can ride the same storyline 4 movies in a row. Single father adores daughter, daughter has new boyfriend, father is prejudice against boyfriend and has trouble accepting him as family… cue 80 minutes of back and forth with acceptance at the end… only to then go into the next movie with the same problem ? it’s alright we can let it rest now.
Animation was smooth and nice. Very good performances from Sandberg and Gomez. I do like the continuation of the franchise as in they heavily carry over characters from the previous films and have them involved. The over familiar plot point gave it no other choice but to go straight to streaming services, wouldn’t have survived in the box office I don’t think. Movie is still a fun ride for the kids, very animated with easy jokes so they will love it. Parents, have your phone, magazine or something to hand, you might not survive the whole ride.
Would you like another entry? Bring back Adam? What did you think? Lay your thoughts in the comments….
