This whole movie felt like a showreel of action scenes labelled “What would it look like if the Rock had super powers in a movie”. It was action heavy and it didn’t disappoint. Standout slow mo scene in the 1st half of the movie. Superb. I’m not sure if it was for that reason as to why it lacked in story and depth. Story was slow, dragged and predictable. With an array of characters undeveloped and uninteresting I was left with non memorable fragments of common extras on a movie set. You end up caring very little for these characters i.e. Atom Smasher, Amon, Cyclone and even the main villain. Standout performance would be from the legendary Pierce Brosnan aka Mr Bond. Perfect casting. One thing that I did like which was out of the ordinary was The Rock had minimal but very effective dialogue. He captured the essence of Black Adam, the villainous, sinister no nonsense demi god. In typical DJ fashion towards the end the cheesy Rock aura squeezed through. Excellent Easter egg scene involving JL was a great addition.
Movie has been marketed as a reboot for the DCEU and if that’s the case then it can pass for a stepping stone although requires a lot of work to be on level with Marvel. Lots of patience and planning is required.
Although not great work I’ll still recommend it on the merit of the action scenes alone. There’s a lot to enjoy here.
Did you enjoy the Rocks portrayal? Has the DCEU been revived with this one? Would this film have benefitted more with a mature rating? In the words of Teth Adam… force is always necessary… NOW LEAVE YOUR THOUGHTS IN THE COMMENTS!!!
Sick film I feel there was a big buy hidden message here in this film especially at the end he was approached by so calm and collectively says alot
Nothing bad to say. Good watch
Can I say I was disappointed in a movie lol I definitely agree with you, they put up the money for the action as I think it is well known that DJ will have epic action sequence in his movies that’s for sure lol
I would’ve loved if he’d tried with an accent maybe to make it a bit more believable or they could have cast another actor as the mortal version of Black Adam just a thought though. I enjoyed Aldis Hodge as Hawkman and Pierce Brosnan was perfect casting as Dr Fate!!
They could’ve done more with the movie a lot more but with the reshuffle at DC I’m not sure they’ll get the chance no mater how DJ tries to spin it on Instagram lol
