A common mistake many will make is go into this movie with the expectation of the impact of the previous film. I’m sorry for your loss of time 😅 this movie beneath the loud cameos and heavy nostalgia actually has its rich and certified story that works well. Excellent blend of the legendary characters with the new school. At first it felt like a spoof of the original but as it flows on u then realise it’s rather been made more family friendly which makes sense to expand on the audience. Enjoyable film for all with some laughable moments. Great to see Wesley back on the big screen in a comedic capacity. I’ll be the first and probably only to say this “THE ACCENTS ARE BETTER HERE THAN BLACK PANTHER”! Fight me!
To compare the 2 in which most or all would do and with one word… this movie is very decent, Coming to America is iconic. The production was the main flaw for me. It was unnecessarily CGI heavy. The main highlight for me were the costumes (but to me as an African, I’d just call clothes). Bright, flamboyant and in typical Prince Akeem words “fleeky”.
I’m not mad at it and surprisingly this is one of the lucky sequels of a classic that can get a pass (especially as it’s on streaming platform)… the return of Sexual Chocolate was epic!
