One of Them Days

  • THE RETURN OF BUDDY COMEDIES!

If you’ve ever had one of them days where everything goes wrong, but somehow you just have to roll with it—then this movie is for you! Channeling the chaotic, feel-good energy of Friday and How High, One of Them Days delivers a high-octane comedy romp that keeps you engaged from start to finish. No frills, no unnecessary drama, just pure, unfiltered laughs.

Keke Palmer shines—no, radiates—as Dreaux, the responsible-yet-lovable friend who actually has a plan (even if nobody listens). It’s time we put some respect on Keke’s name. This woman has been putting in work for years! As young as she is, she’s a vet in the game, and this performance proves why she’s a powerhouse.

And speaking of stars, SZA makes her acting debut as Alyssa, and honestly? It’s a vibe. Charismatic, carefree, and the kind of friend you just know would have you on an unexpected adventure. For a first-timer, she holds her own, and you can tell she’s just having fun with it. The chemistry between Keke and SZA is exactly what’s needed to carry a film like this—it’s natural, it’s solid, and most importantly, it’s fun.

But wait! There’s more. Katt Williams and Lil Rel Howery slide in with smaller roles, but let’s be real—these two cannot be on screen without completely stealing the scene. Absolutely hilarious, and their presence elevates every moment they’re in.

At a tight 1 hour and 37 minutes, the film doesn’t waste time. It’s not trying to reinvent the “life falls apart in one day” genre—it doesn’t need to. It just wants to make you laugh, and it nails that goal effortlessly.

One of the best parts? Seeing some of my favorite content creators make their way into Hollywood. Tony Baker, Desi Banks, Ray Santiago, and more pop up, and I couldn’t help but feel proud. It’s inspiring to see them on the big screen, and it just adds to the joy of the movie.

There’s been talk about comedy as a genre fading away, getting absorbed into action or drama, but One of Them Days proves that’s nonsense. We need comedies like this! The legacy of characters like Day-Day and Smokey isn’t forgotten—there’s still a huge fanbase for these absurd, wild, and hilarious stories, and this movie reminds us why.

Is One of Them Days winning any Oscars? Probably not. But do you need to watch it? Absolutely. It’s one of those movies you throw on when you just want to unwind, laugh, and let your hair down. The leads carry it effortlessly, and honestly? We need more films like this. Hollywood, take notes!
