My Adventures with Superman is back, and it’s basically DBZ with a cape, a fresh wardrobe, and pure chaos.
Synopsis
Clark, Lois, and Jimmy return for another round of alien threats, secret identities, and Metropolis-saving madness. This time, Kara Zor-El joins the crew full-time, while time-travel shenanigans bring a familiar leather-jacketed Kryptonian into the mix.
Cast and Performances
The core trio still shares unbeatable comedic chemistry, but Kara completely steals the spotlight. Her bold, unhidden presence offers a fantastic contrast to Clark’s frantic identity hiding. Jack Quaid, Ishmel Sahid, Alice Lee and Kiana Madeira work well together. They had a good family feel to them.
Production Quality
Visually, the production team went full anime, completely dropping any previous restraint. The battle sequences are pure, Dragon Ball-level electric energy. Every lightning-fast brawl uses distinct, colour-coded motion blurs that look absolutely stunning on screen. Soundtrack cues amplify every punch, making the animation hit with massive weight.
Review: Story and Pacing
The storytelling is an absolute wild ride this year. Mid-season, a brutal showdown with Hank Henshaw delivers finale-level gravitas, proving the writers do not hoard their best moments. They also take a bold risk with Superboy, basically turning him into Future Trunks with a time-travel twist.
While that time-travel plot gets slightly convoluted, the narrative eventually pulls itself together. The overarching story lacks a smooth, free-flowing build-up to the finale, with episodes darting off in scattered directions. Yet, every standalone story is so well-written that the episodic randomness actually works. It proves this show can comfortably introduce villain-of-the-week threats forever without losing its charm. Meanwhile, Lois taking the driver’s seat by proposing to Clark gives their dynamic a brilliant, fresh spark.
My only real gripe is Clark’s main redesign. Those extra bright colour panels just do not work for me. Thankfully, he rotates through several fresh outfits across the season, which keeps his visual identity dynamic.
Ultimately, despite the erratic pacing, this season hits all the right emotional and action beats. It easily earns a high recommendation for any fan.
