You will watch this trailer and think all out action the raid type show it’s not. Surprisingly it has a lot of heart. It’s an almost buddy cop show in the sense you have this clueless kid supporting this ruthless killer and it makes for some hilarious scenes. The brothers actually gel quite well. The mini plots are wicked. A stone-cold killer with a passion for baking? Baking? Are you serious? I love it. fully revived my love for churros. Michelle as mama Sun provided some cheeky narratives with her being 1 step ahead of everyone. The way she’s casual with it in this criminal underworld but still your average loving mother.
It’s the mini plots alongside the main story that makes the show. There’s of course a love interest who is on the opposing side to their goals, Bruce pursuing a dream in theatre, a whole bunch of revenge stories and the whole insight into organised crime groups. The characters are well done. Man like uncle blood boots and May… fantastic performances from them both. The show pushes on family history and generational legacy. Filling your parents shoes kind of stuff. It shines in its narratives of brotherhood, family, living by a code and comedy. Its 8 episodes of bliss drama and action. Special mention to the golf course fight scene, amazing stuff. We get a fulfilling ending here and they leave it open for more which I defo want! Netflix did the business here. This was a well-placed investment… they need to push this for 3/4 seasons minimum.
